China X Reader Fortune Cookie
It was cold and the air outside was filled with flurries of white snow. You walked along in the winter chill toward “Imperial Palace”, your favorite Chinese take-out place. You stared at the sidewalk as you went along, so as to avoid any treacherous patches of ice. As you looked up, you were greeted by the warm glow of the Chinese restaurant and the bright red paper lanterns hung in its windows.  You pushed open the door and you were greeted by the warm scent of Chinese food.  You walked over to the counter and noticed a new staff member working in the back. He had long, shiny black hair that was pulled back in a ponytail and was wearing a black sleeveless top that left his lightly muscled arms exposed. He skillfully tossed the wok that he held in his left hand.  He noticed you standing on the other side of the counter and set the wok down. He walked over to the counter and regarded you with a smile and warm, brown eyes.
“Hello, I am Yao. Can I help you miss?”
“Uhh, yes please. I’d like an order of dumplings and lo mein.”
One of the employees in the back yelled something at Yao, who responded in rapid Chinese.
“Sorry about that~aru” he said, “Your order will be ready in just a minute.”
You sat down in one of the chairs in the waiting area and watched Yao covertly as he worked. He smiled as he cooked with remarkable speed and skill. He noticed you looking at him and winked.  You blushed and looked away.
“Order up!”
You walked over to the counter and Yao handed you a white paper bag with your order.
“Aiyah! I almost forgot the fortune cookie!” he exclaimed as he placed a fortune cookie in the bag.
“Thank you,” you said as you took your takeout and carried it back to your dorm.
The cookie said, “Your luck has been completely changed today.”
You continued to visit “Imperial Palace” whenever you had a yen for Chinese food, and Yao was always working behind the counter. He never failed to greet you with a smile.
.........
You were walking across the quad to your class when you caught sight of Yao. He was wearing a red jacket and was standing with some of the other Chinese students. You hadn’t realized that he was a student at your college.
“--------------!” He called out as he saw you, “How did you like my egg rolls? Were they good?”
“Y-yeah!” you responded with surprise.
He walked over to you so as to conduct a conversation without shouting across the quad.
“Would you like to hang out tonight~aru?” Yao asked with a smile.
“Yeah. I live in room #305.”
“Is seven ok?”
“Sure,” you said with an almost imperceptible blush.
“Oh! I have a fortune cookie for you,” he said as he took the cookie out of his backpack and handed it to you. He walked away, then turned to wave at you.
You opened the fortune cookie. The fortune read “All decisions you make today will be most fortunate.”
........
You heard a light knock on your door. You opened the door and saw Yao standing there, his black hair shining in the light of the hallway. His smile was radiant and he carried a large paper bag of Chinese takeout.
“Ni hao, --------------!”
“Hi Yao”
You let him in and the two of you sat on a blanket spread on the floor. There were paper cartons with red pagodas printed on them spread out upon the blanket.
“Here ----------------, try this!” he said as he leaned toward you with a dumpling held between his chopsticks.
He fed you the dumpling, then he waited eagerly for your verdict.
“It’s delicious,” you said frankly.
“I’m so glad you like it!” he said, smiling, “You know ------------, every time I see you in “Imperial Palace” I just feel so happy. I really like you~aru.....”
“I like you too, Yao!” you said as you threw your arms around his neck.
He pulled you into his lap and gently kissed your neck. "Wo ai ni," he whispered.
“Here’s your fortune cookie,” he said as he handed it to you.
The fortune read, “There is a prospect of a thrilling time ahead for you.”
